Our school is proud to have the best Guidance Counselors team dedicated to providing academic and emotional support to students in need. Our team works closely with students to identify and address any barriers that may be interfering with their learning. We believe that by providing students with a strong support system, we can enable them to become successful, resilient individuals who are better prepared to take on any challenge that comes their way. Learn More BMCC Office of Accessibility As MECA students with disabilities move from the high school campus to the college campus at BMCC they will also continue to receive support through the Office of Accessibility . In order to create an inclusive environment for students with disabilities, the Office of Accessibility will determine the student's eligibility for academic accommodations and advise the BMCC community and determine the best ways to assist these students. Re-Imaging Special Education for New York City Students What is IEP The Individualized Education program is a plan imposed by the DOE to provide students with Free and Appropriate Education in their Least Restrictive Environment. Student Handbook Graduation Requirements Helpful Resources At our high school, we provide enriching education. We offer various diploma options: Regents Diploma, Advanced Regents Diploma, and CTE Endorsed Diploma as well as the option of earning an Associates Degree. We believe every student should have the chance to challenge themselves and to achieve their full potential, and we are dedicated to providing the tools and resources to help them succeed. Graduation Requirements Highschool Diplomas (9-12th) CTE Endorsed Diploma (9-12th) Associates Degree - BMCC (12-14th) Advanced Regents Diploma Exam Requirements Students must score 65 or higher on the following nine exams to earn an advanced Regents diploma. English Language Arts (ELA) Three math exams (Algebra I, Geometry, and Algebra II/Trigonometry) One social studies exam (Global History and Geography or U.S. History and Government) Two science exams (Living Environment and one of these: Chemistry, Earth Science, or Physics) Any additional Regents exam, or another option approved by the State Any NYC World Languages exam (also known as Languages Other Than English (LOTE) exam) Standard Regents Diploma Exam Requirements Students must achieve a score of 65 or higher on these five exams to earn a Regents diploma. Students complete the final 30 credits to earn their Associate’s Degree. Students learn side-by-side with industry professionals in 2-year paid internships. Internships placements are determined based on students’ area of interest. Students take a bi-weekly work-based learning course that includes special seminars and workshops. Students are paired with a recent college graduate working in the industry who becomes their mentor. Students participate in a monthly lunch series with Senior Executives from select Advertising and Media agencies. Login Afterschool/Tutoring Sessions Obtaining Working Papers and Completing I-9 Forms I-9 Forms Using the current version of Form I-9 (as of November 1, 2023, the 08/01/23 edition), the steps include: Completing Section 1 before or on first day of work, providing personal information and work authorization status. Within 3 business days, employer reviews employee's identity and work authorization documents (either one from List A, or one each from List B and C). Employer examines documents for authenticity and relevance to the employee. Employer completes Section 2, recording document information. Employer signs and dates the form, attesting to document examination. Complete any necessary supplements (e.g., Preparer/Translator Certification). Retain I-9 form for required period (3 years after hire or 1 year after employment ends, whichever is later). Store forms securely; make available for official inspection if requested. Many essential pages contained minimal details regarding the curriculum and our comprehensive benefits. Additionally, key information that was meant to attract attention was incorrect and lacked specificity. The overall aesthetic, including images, was outdated and did not reflect our current standards. Parthnership Thank You ! During the course of MECA'S Rebranding Havas has generously allowed students to work within their company, giving students a space to work in. Also offering mentoring and feedback on how to make MECA's website stronger. Solution Ten students from MECA engaged in the BrandMECAnics Rebranding project, where they explored innovative branding strategies for the school and created a revamped version of the MECA website using Wix. The students were divided into two specialized teams: the Creative team and the UI/UX Design team. The Creative team concentrated on conceptualizing design choices and developing the rationale behind them. Meanwhile, the UI/UX Design team focused on implementing the Creative team's ideas into the website's structure and functionality. Together the teams worked togeher to creatye an modernized and easy to navigate website for viewers. Together, the teams collaborated to create a modernized and user-friendly website that is easy to navigate for all visitors.
