Student Resources

See below for graduation requirements, helpful resources, and tools to guide MECA students through their high school journey!

At our high school, we provide enriching education. We offer various diploma options: Regents Diploma, Advanced Regents Diploma, and CTE Endorsed Diploma as well as the option of earning an Associates Degree. We believe every student should have the chance to challenge themselves and to achieve their full potential, and we are dedicated to providing the tools and resources to help them succeed. 

Graduation Requirements

Advanced Regents Diploma

Exam Requirements

Students must score 65 or higher on the following nine exams to earn an advanced Regents diploma.

  • English Language Arts (ELA)

  • Three math exams (Algebra I, Geometry, and Algebra II/Trigonometry)

  • One social studies exam (Global History and Geography or U.S. History and Government)

  • Two science exams (Living Environment and one of these: Chemistry, Earth Science, or Physics)

  • Any additional Regents exam, or another option approved by the State

  • Any NYC World Languages exam (also known as Languages Other Than English (LOTE) exam)

Standard Regents Diploma

Exam Requirements

Students must achieve a score of 65 or higher on these five exams to earn a Regents diploma.

  • English Language Arts (ELA)

  • Any math exam (Algebra I, Geometry, or Algebra II/Trigonometry)

  • Any social studies exam (Global History and Geography or U.S. History and Government)

  • Any science exam (Living Environment, Chemistry, Earth Science, or Physics)

  • Any additional Regents exam, or another option approved by the State

*There is also an option of graduating with a local diploma but it is only provided to some students who meet specific criterias and allows them to graduate with lower regents scores

    Students can apply for the SATs and take PSATs using this site.

    Students taking BMCC courses can check their grades using this site.

  • NYC Students Account

    Students can login to their NYC DOE account and access the students documents section which includes their unofficial transcript.

  • Career Pathways Site

    Participants can input their information after logging in to the career pathways site.

  • I-9 Forms

    Using the current version of Form I-9 (as of November 1, 2023, the 08/01/23 edition), the steps include:

    1. Completing Section 1 before or on first day of work, providing personal information and work authorization status.

    2. Within 3 business days, employer reviews employee's identity and work authorization documents (either one from List A, or one each from List B and C).

    3. Employer examines documents for authenticity and relevance to the employee.

    4. Employer completes Section 2, recording document information.

    5. Employer signs and dates the form, attesting to document examination.

    6. Complete any necessary supplements (e.g., Preparer/Translator Certification).

    7. Retain I-9 form for required period (3 years after hire or 1 year after employment ends, whichever is later).

    8. Store forms securely; make available for official inspection if requested.

    Working papers

    Students can go to their school main offices with these items and request one:

    • An application with Section 1 completed and signed by a parent

    • A birth certificate as proof of your age

    • An original version of a:

      • New York State doctor's note (stating the student is "fit for employment")

      • Certificate of physical fitness completed by a NY State physician

    • Schooling record:

      • Registered NYC public school students need their school ID

      • Private school and non-NYC public school students--and out of state students working in NYC--need:

        • To complete the Schooling Record section of the application and:

          • A letter from school or

          • A recent report card
